Kelvin Robinson Foundation

Kelvin Robinson Foundation is a non-profit organization that assists families in the New York City 5-borough area who have been victims of household fire. The design of the Kelvin Robinson Foundation web site needed to be child-friendly and content rich to allow parents, teachers and others educate young people about fire safety. In addition to design & development services, I also provided eBusiness Planning (incentives for submitting stories and additional means of generating donations), copyediting of Camelia's Story and training on how to update the site.

The goal of the site was to:

announce upcoming events & fundraisers
educate about fire safety and prevention
accept donations
recruit volunteers
thank contributors
introduce the mission of the foundation

To bring out the child-friendly theme of the web site, I created custom illustrations that resemble the drawings an elementary student might create. My Child Development class in high school taught me about the features that children use in their drawings and how they change at various ages. I applied these features and drew them using my left hand to give them an authentic feel.

Kelvin Robinson was the victim of a household fire and was survived by his mother and sister, Camelia, who founded the Kelvin Robinson Foundation in his memory. To show who Kelvin was, I created a slideshow using a series of family snapshots and edited them into a Polaroid frame.

To add impact to the importance of working smoke detectors, I produced this animation.
