One page. That's all she wanted. Nothing fancy. She had the copy and the image, and now she wanted to get on the web. Together we figured out the best way to get her the simple site she wanted...

Deb Stewart, owner, came to my home office, and we sat together for three hours to accomplish the feat. I built the page while she was right there to make sure she was satisfied, and I took the site through the quality process to make sure the page met my user-centered specifications.

Usually, folks contract me to help them with much larger projects, but really, this goes to show that anyone can be a good match if they understand their limitations and value quality and risk assessment -- regardless of budget.

Here's what we accomplished in the three hours:

Page design
Evaluate possible hosting providers
Set up hosting and save documentation
Register Domain name and route to new provider
Strategize keywords important to her search engine listings and weave them into the copy
List the site with 8 top search engines

In January of 2002, Deb and I spoke on the phone. She mentioned that one of her clients found her site ranked in the top 10 for keywords "hardboard" and "identification."

One of the reasons her site was able to easily rank high was that she had only one page...one page LOADED with applicable keywords and little else.
