Analyzing keywords to optimize with is a critical part of successful optimization efforts, web positioning and ranking high on search engines. Research is conducted using a database that collects information from keyword searches that users actually perform.

Understanding Your Keyword Analysis (KEI) Report EXAMPLE

The purpose of the report is to obtain the KEI (pronounced "key"), a value produced by a calculation based on the number of:
  • competing web pages responding to a searcher's query
  • times that keyword term has been requested by all searchers over a period of time.
There are 2 kinds of KEI reports:

Exact Match (with quotes) EXAMPLE

Exact match searching means that a search engine searches for only those sites which use the keyword exactly as typed in by the user.
KEIreportnoquotes.jpg (170682 bytes)

Partial Match (without quotes) EXAMPLE

Partial match search means that a search engine also searches for sites which contain the individual words of the keyword but not necessarily occurring together or in the order typed in by the user. 

The two examples shown above are evaluating the keyword terms on Google.com. I can run this report against the top search engines.
