upgrades that allow you access to more advanced features. All are
relatively easy to use for the first-time blogger.

Free features include unlimited posting bandwidth and storage
quotas, several easy-to-customize themes, simple interface.

Free. Easy management of multiple blogs, drag-and-drop
customizable templates, easy-to-add RSS and Atom feeds to web
site, spell check, previews, auto-save, photos, SPAM protection
and back links. Send photos and text from email and mobile phone.
No ads unless you put them there!
TypePad.
Free features include WYSIWYG editor sporting multiple template
designs, ability to add web pages in addition to blog posts, auto
archive and customize categories for your posts. Supports photos,
videos, podcasts, RSS and Atom feeds and back links. Instant
notification to Google, Technocrati and other blog-friendly search
engines. Paid accounts have the ability to add your own domain
name. No ads. Schedule future posts for automatic publication.
Built in stats and plug-in analytics.
WordPress.
Free features include "dozens" of preset themes, tags,
spell check, previews, auto-save, photos, video , privacy options,
SPAM protection, integrated statistics (so you can see how many
people are visiting your blog, what pages and when), import option
(Blogger, TypePad, LiveJournal if you want to migrate to WordPress)
and easy export, widgets (Flickr, Meebo), add regular web pages in
addition to blog posts, ad supported but will support your Google
adsense account.
Open-Source Blogs
These blogs are free to use, but
require installation on your server. Some hosting companies may
have an option to install one or more blogging platforms.
