Usually, eCommerce systems are established after an online identity and web presence are in place.

The most important part of creating an eCommerce solution is in the consultation process.  In consultation, you will work toward:

• Creating the right combination of banking, merchant and online transaction services

• Examining current transaction systems (paper-based, mechanical or electronic) 

• Evaluating inventory and services appropriate for your online market

• Determining how you will approach shipping and sales tax issues

• Uncovering new fulfillment practices, such as determining the roles of various personnel, locations of fulfillment, shipping procedures, etc. 

The next step is to make the system come to life. These tasks are commonly involved:

• Gather or generate content that assists the customer in making an informed purchasing decision, including product photos, descriptions, pricing, specifications, etc.

• Create the code necessary to display the content in a meaningful way
