Paper Prototype -- Sketching

Building a prototype generally begins with a pencil and paper. Here, I create each screen of the system, paying careful attention to navigation, user inputs and system responses.  These may eventually be recreated in PowerPoint or Visio for easier interpretation and working documentation throughout the lifecycle of the application. 

Functional  Prototype -- HTML

Creating a very basic "static" web site showing how each screen looks with fields, links and buttons is also an effective way to prototype an application. This takes slightly more time than paper prototyping
